With the ever evolving technological frontier, it only seems natural for other industries to follow. Take the new Apple smart watch (pictured above.) On their first generation release they offered interchangeable straps to suit the needs of their trendy clientele, going so far as to offer 18k gold and rose gold accents – in the unlikely event consumers were torn between shades of yellow or rose. The elaborate choices provided by Apple were a means to stand out from the smartwatch crowd, however by offering such high end and versatile styles they ended up a brand name following the same formula of burgeoning start-up companies.
At first blending engineering and style sounds like something out of a modern Frankenstein novel. Yet the entrepreneurial spirit of companies including Bespoke, iShuu Technologies, and no new folk studio Inc. have paved the way not only to clear up some closet space but also change the way today’s trend setters dress every morning. Bespoke offers tailor made clothes with the click of a few buttons and granted, some time to create the handpicked design. iShuu Technologies offers a pump shoe with chips and sensors embedded in the heel with colors that are controlled by an app. No new folk studio Inc. has a similar concept, sneakers with LED lights controlled wirelessly.
Thanks to crowdfunding campaign websites it has become easier than ever for small companies to side step big name brands and become leaders in their industries. Supporting those business ventures through campaigns gave consumers a way to choose where their money went, as well as having a voice in who could become the next major player in the world of fashion.
